The Belle Epoque, dating from the late 1800s to WWI, was a period of great optimism and prosperity. There was a flourishing of the arts, especially in the salons of Paris. It saw the development of visual arts such as Money, Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Rodin and a young Picasso, modern dance developing in institutions like the Folies Bergère and the Ballets Russes and the rise of the Art Nouveau movement.
Join mezzo soprano Jenny Duck-Chong and pianist Josephine Allan for an afternoon of exquisite song celebrating the refined elegance and nostalgia of the Belle Epoque. The program will feature sumptuous melodies by Duparc, Fauré, Hahn, Satie, Chausson, Debussy and more.
